Rubber tapping is the process by which natural rubber (gum rubber) is collected. Peninsular Malaysia is among the world’s most important rubber growing areas. Rubber "pokok  getah" is also grown in the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo. Together the 14 states produce almost 20% of the world’s natural rubber on 1.3 million hectares of land.
